Abstract

This research is warranted by the need to integrate digital tolos into mathematics education. The complexity of linear algebra, with its abstract concepts and procedures, calls for innovative teaching methodologies that harness the potential of specialized software to improve student understanding and performance. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the relationship between the use of mathematical software and academic performance in the Linear Algebra course among college students. Methodologically, the study adopted a quantitative, correlational approach with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 33 students from a university in Ecuador, a multiple-choice questionnaire was used as a tool to measure the use of math software, and Pearson´s correlation coefficient was employed as a statistical measure. The results highlight GeoGebra and Matrix Calculator as the tolos most frequently cited for their educational utility,at 30.30 % and 27.27%, respectively; they are useful for visualixing operations with matrices, lienar transformations, and vector spaces, allowing for the verification of results and the streamlining of calculations. However, Perason´s correlation revealed a weak relationship (r = -0.128) and a non-significant association (p = 0.447) between software use and academic performance. It is concluded that these tolos act as learning facilitators in the educational process; however, their use does not guarantee improved academic performance. A structured curricular integration is recommended, accompanied by teaching strategies that guide their use.
